About

A heritage of superior craftsmanship built over 200 years.

We are proud of our heritage which dates back over 200 years. At the end of the last century some of the best-known silversmiths in England were brought together by engineering and bullion company Solpro Group.

During the 1970s and 80s, a worrying number of traditional silversmithing workshops were being lost. In a bid to protect and preserve this heritage, Solpro Group began consolidating historic silverware companies, including James Dixon & Sons, Elkington & Co, Cooper Cobb, Roberts & Belk and CJ Vander.

Each company possessed a huge amount of knowledge and expertise, along with unique tooling and back catalogues. Their consolidation meant that huge numbers of skilled craftspeople remained employed in the British silverware industry, and their respective tools, dies and design work were preserved for future generations.

Thanks to the unique skillsets of these distinguished companies, Solpro was granted the use of British Silverware as a single name for the whole group.

British Silverware as it stands today became independent from Solpro in 2005, and we are proud to have retained the history, heritage, tooling and designs of the silversmiths that came together all those years ago, so that our clients can continue to enjoy them to this very day.

The company is now headed up by Jacqueline Tear, who started working in silverware in 1986 at Solpro . She was a member of the management team that took British Silverware into private ownership in 2005.

Today, Jacqueline leads a dedicated team of artisan craftspeople who are proud to supply high-end silverware to their discerning global clientele, including private families, major retailers, sporting event organisers and more.
